Announcing the third in a series of FREE half day mini-retreats across the mainland of Shetland to support carers including all NHS, Social Care & Social Work staff as well as unpaid carers — provided with love from the Heart Of Living Yoga Foundation.

Thank you for working so hard to care for others. In gratitude, we offer you these opportunities for you to nourish yourself deeply with heart-centred and accessible yoga, meditation and simple breathing practices that will help you release stress and rediscover your natural peace, vitality and joy. For others who wish to attend, a small fee of £25 is asked which will support our work with care staff in the UK as well as supporting children and their families in Sri Lanka, Brasil, India, the USA & UK.

If you’d like to exerience a little five minute heart-meditation break any time, you can enjoy this simple practice. If you enjoy this heart meditation, you’ll probably love the mini retreat!

Please bring a yoga mat*, blanket and cushion and any other yoga nesting supplies you might enjoy. Please also bring cosy slippers or extra thick socks as we’ll be leaving our shoes off in the hall. You might also like to have a notebook and pen if you like to take notes or draw pictures.

* You’ll only need a mat if you will be doing floor practice. Chair yoga will also be offered offered.

North Mainland - Sunday 11th June, 10am-1pm

The house has a beautiful lounge with comfy sofas where we can enjoy heart meditation, breathing practices and discussion time as well as having our tea & cake break there. Another room will be used for our physical yoga practice, though if the weather is nice, we may decide to go out into the walled garden and enjoy yoga under the summer sky! Voxter House is an independent charity helping many people enjoy the wild nature and beauty of Shetland.

A beautiful light and airy room offers us an ideal space for yoga practice and the reception areas has comfy sofas for our tea & cake break. The Mission is dedicated to supporting and nurturing the wellbeing of all in Shetland and we are delighted to work with them.

South Mainland - Now To be rescheduled due to snow this week,Levenwick Hall

Levenwick hall is lovely and light, spacious and a vibrant hub of the community. We are blessed to be able to enjoy this special time together in such a lovely hall and so near to one of Shetland’s magical beaches. A simple, nourishing vegetarian lunch will be provided.

Vishwam on the ferry to Yell.

Vishwam Gurudas Heckert is one of our yoga teachers and trainers. He’s lived in Shetland for about two years and has been practising yoga for nearly 25 years. Vishwam completed his first yoga teacher training in 2012 and has completed well over 500 hours of training which, combined with his dedicated practice and deep heart awareness, enables him to serve as one of our Yoga Teacher Trainers and Heart Ministers.

Vishwam is well loved for his warmth, sense of humour and joyful way of sharing yoga. He is also an attentive listener and a loving teacher. You can read more about him here.
