Pranayama Video Series

Our heart teachers have created this special series of videos to help you connect with the profound and life changing benefits of pranayama breathing practices. Pranayama techniques can bring numerous benefits including increasing lung capacity and elasticity, calming the nervous system, clearing the mind, improving focus and increasing vitality. Pranayama offers a range of life changing breathing practices through which you can directly access the nervous system, strengthen the lungs and increase their capacity, as well as drawing more vitality into the body and the mind. This series is introduced by Jaya Devi, Heart Of Living Yoga teacher and professional psychologist.

Ocean Breath is a wonderful way to calm the nervous system, lower blood pressure and let any anxiety and stress melt away. It also helps reduce pain and switch off any sense of threat in life. This breath is taught by Padma Devi, founder and president of the Heart Of Living Yoga Foundation.

The Ujaii Breath is a helpful method of warming the body, easing movement and increasing endurance. It slows down the breath which, in turn, calms the nervous system. This breath is taught by Anya, a Heart Of Living Yoga Teacher and Teacher Trainer.

Deergha Swasam or Three Part Breath is a traditional yoga practice of deep, full, diaphragmatic breathing which expands lung capacity and strength, massages the heart and supports its health, calms the mind and energises the body and immune system, and helps keep the nervous system regulated. This breath is taught by Harshani, a Heart Of Living Yoga Teacher and Teacher Trainer, and the founder of our Heart Of Healing training programme.

Kapalabhati is a traditional yoga practice which helps clear the mind, raise our energy naturally and gently over time, cleanses the body of toxins and helps reset the vagus nerve helping us live in a calm state of awareness. This breath is taught by Anya, one of our Heart Of Living Yoga Teachers and Teacher Trainers.

Nadi Suddhi is a traditional yoga practice which helps cleanse the nadis, or subtle energy channels. It balances the hemispheres of the brain and also the sympathetic and nervous system. Nadi Suddhi is both calming and energising, bringing us into a natural state of harmony and balance. This is very soothing the emotions and the mind while also bringing clarity and focus. It also brings energy and clarity to the mind. This breath is taught by Jaya Devi, a Heart Of Living Yoga Teacher and professional psychologist.
