Meet the Team

Rev. Padma Devi

After travelling & teaching around the world for over 25 years, Padma now shares the wisdom of yoga online from her peaceful home in Portugal where she lives a simple sustainable life on her land, with her son Hanuman and their 2 dogs. There are several intentional eco communities nearby, most notably Tamera, the peace research & education centre.

Padma is the founder of Heart Of Living Yoga Foundation, an international charity which supports under-privileged children by providing them with improved education & nutrition. The Foundation also offers many yoga training courses and resources to help facilitate more balance & unity in our world – by bringing peace one heart at a time.

Br Vishwam Gurudas Heckert

Originally from rural Iowa, Vishwam has lived in the UK for over 25 years, including Bournemouth & Poole, Edinburgh, Matlock, Fife & his current home in Shetland. Here he lives with his partner Paul where they are developing an ecological smallholding. He’s a creative and engaged scholar interested in alternatives to traditional politics. He has written widely for academic, activist and popular publications. Vishwam is also a teacher and teacher trainer in the Heart Of Living Yoga tradition and a wellbeing coach.

Vishwam is the founder of Flowing with Life, a social and ecological enterprise inspired by yoga wisdom, heart-centred permaculture and sacred anarchy. For him, anarchy refers to the art of relating freely as equals. Flowing with Life offers retreats, online and in person yoga classes and creative writing groups, as well as other special events.

Isha Helen Bailey

Isha is a yogi, teacher, mum, doggy mum and soul gently learning to live more in the present, compassionately connecting with all rather than getting lost in the stories of her mind.

She is a trained meditation facilitator and includes meditations where she can into the classes she teaches in a local primary school. Part of her role in school is working with a group of children, bringing more ecological awareness and practice into school life.

She’s been part of the Heart of Living Yoga family for the past 5 years and plans to become a certified yoga teacher with the charity in the near future.

Having been previously unaware of how ‘conditioned’ her mind had been by societal and cultural patterning, Isha is actively committed to gently uncovering and healing the wounded and conditioned parts in herself for the highest good of all beings including Mother Earth.

Uma Maxwell

Uma loves walking barefoot and feeling the dewy grass under foot, sleeping under the stars, and soaking in her outdoor bath surrounded by nature.

Her spiritual education started with Vipassana Meditation, becoming aware of the sensations in her body; and A Course in Miracles, recognising that in each moment mind was choosing either a Love or fear focus. Later, she was led to Heart of Living Yoga, resonating strongly with Heart Practice and training as a Heart Meditation Facilitator.

She’s been part of the Heart of Living Yoga family for the past 5 years and supports the trainers on the Heart of Healing course.

Being a mum and an Early Years teacher gives her plenty of practice ‘learning to stay centred in her Heart’. Alongside this, she is exploring metaphysical journeying into nature, expanding her direct experience of our interconnectedness; and working with sound frequencies to create greater coherence for ourselves and the Earth.

Marula Cath Marston

Marula has had a deep love affair with Mother Earth all her life, she is passionate about guardianship of Gaia and all beings in nature.

She is a heart meditation facilitator and has been part of the Heart of Living Yoga Family for three years supporting the trainers on the mediation and Heart of Healing course.

Marula works ‘within the system’ as Head of Sustainability at a major corporation and over the years has developed alternative ways of engagement to encourage change and community collaboration putting stewardship of the planet at the centre of decision making.
