Charity Update: Indigenous Brasil

Updates from Amazonia

In cooperation with

Native Sateré-Mawé Women’s Association

Maloca in Acajatuba-Igarapé Grande - Rio Negro

This is a big project as it includes a huge approach on teaching the interaction of the native wisdom with the university studies to create scientific articles confirming the efficacy of their knowledge on health treatments of indigenous medicines. Growing food, herbs, producing creams, tinctures with the vibration of native prayers, teaching about the physical body and releases through massage and movement, handmade jewellery crafts... it is all included in their programme to transmit their traditional knowledge to their descendants.

To start it, Heart of Living Yoga is building a big Maloca in Acajatuba-Igarapé Grande - Rio Negro as it is the centre of all creation for the native Sateré-Mawé ethnicity. This project is lead by Dona Regina Sateré Mawé and her husband, the Pajé Diakaara, their daughters and all women from their community. Their daughter, Samela Sateré-Mawé is studying biology at the university and supports the scientific approach of this project.

Making traditional jewelry

We are so looking forward to see many native children benefiting from all the wisdom, knowledge and studies that will come out from this amazing heart project.

Thank you, Prem Devi, for making this beautiful video of all the work you are doing to support our Indigenous relatives in Amazonia.

A note about the jewellery: all adornments are a from native traditions… In this case they use lots of seeds, feathers, leaves, wood… Body painting with urucum and jenipapo is also part of their lives… It is all about appreciation of everything that nature gives for good — embracing its power and expressing its beauty!
