Sri Lanka News

Heart of Living Yoga Foundation are supporting the TEA Project who improve the education of the children of the tea pickers north of Kandy.  Padma is planning to visit them next October and see what practical ways we can help them.  They have funding but need more people to help deliver the educational and empowerment programmes.

At Padmalokah in our village in the north of Sri Lanka, we now have a beautiful new well that is giving sparkling clean water and plans are going ahead for the community building.  On our beautiful land an eternal flame is tended every day with prayers and a puja is offered there on each full moon day.

All the projects are going well there - the Sunshine School for 40 children, the Elders Breakfast Club for 35 elders and the monthly food supplies that we give to about 30 very needy families.

Full Moon Day lunch and Family support, bringing Sunshine to the lives of children and families.

Today around 85 to 90 people were given Annadhanam (wholesome lunch) and 41 Families were given the monthly dry ration (photos below). This project is implemented in Puthumurripu, Kilinochchi.

We have just heard that 5 children from the Sunshine School have been awarded government scholarships! 9 of our students took the exam. The new programme begins on 15th January.

The scholarship means the children will go to the top school in the district free of charge, get free uniforms and the parents receive 2,000 rupees per month for books etc.
